Calling all children’s ministers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the surrounding area. I have created a Facebook group for us! The group is called “Children’s Ministers Of Milwaukee”. How original eh? I got the idea from a fellow children’s minister in Detroit. It’s an opportunity to get together with children’s pastors from different churches in the Milwaukee area monthly to discuss the good, the great, the bad and the not so bad over lunch. Then head off to a different church every month to tour their children’s facility and find out how and what God has them doing to reach kids effectively.

It’s a great way to network with those in your community.  So, if you are from Milwaukee or one of the suburbs of Milwaukee feel free to join the group and network with others in the area!

If you are not from Milwaukee but want to start something like this in your area and need some help just let me know and I would be glad to help out in anyway possible. It’s all about us working together as a body. All across the country.

The Milwaukee Facebook group can be found by visiting: http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=26833994901

If you want to contact me to create a group like this in your area please feel free email me via any of the methods on my contact page.

    CMConnect - Get Connected

Last night I stumbled upon a new Ning Community called “CMConnect“. A friend of mine told me about the site and so I checked it out and am really enjoying the site. It’s a site designed to bring Children’s Ministers together to share ideas, give support, and just get to know each other. Basically …. NETWORK!

Networking is important in the world we live in. I mean, even Jesus networked with others. It’s important that we come together as a body. We all have ideas that we can share. We all have tried different things and some of those things may not have worked for you but may work for someone else. Discussion and brainstorming is the second stop in creating a stellar children’s ministry.

So … if you are a children’s minister please stop by and join us at CMConnect.org.

    Deep Calling Deep

So I am reading this book called “One Word from God can change your life”. The book is an excellent book but I wanted to share with you a couple paragraphs from the book. I believe it will change some peoples lives.

Many of us have even recognized the truth — that it takes faith to receive from God. So we’ve studied the Bible, confessed particular verses over and over and memorized every key to spiritual success. Yet to often, instead of causing us to flourish in faith and prayer, our endeavors have left us dry and spiritless. Why is that? It is because we can’t have real faith just by knowing principles. Real faith comes from knowing the Person behind the principles.

That’s why the Apostole Paul in his great statement of faith wrote, “I know who I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day” (2 Timothy 1:12. Paul didn’t say, “I know what I have believed.” He didn’t say, “I know the principles and steps I have believed.” He said, “I know the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

You see, real praying comes from the heart hungry to know God. It comes when we cry out, as David did in Psalms 42: “As the hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pant and long for You, O God. My inner self thirsts for God, for the living God…[Roaring] deep calls to [roaring] deap at the thunder of Your waterspouts; all Your breakers and Your rolling waves have gone over me” (verses 1-2, 7, The Ampliied Bible)

When a person is hungry, the deepest part of this spirit begins to call out to God for something to fill that hunger.

It’s important not just to know the Word but you gotta know him intimately. Find out what makes God laugh, blush, and smile.
